State Insolvency and Foreign Bondholders: Selected Case Histories of
Governmental Foreign Bond Defaults and Debt Readjustments
By William H. Wynne 2000/07 - Beard Books 1587980460 - Paperback - Reprint US$34.95 These case studies were prepared primarily to provide basic material for the analysis, presented in Volume I, of the problems and practices that have developed from the experiences of foreign bondholders with insolvent states. Publisher Comments This volume contains studies of the bond defaults and readjustments that occurred during the foreign debt history of eight selected countries-four of them European, three Latin American, and one North African. The studies have a common structural pattern. They review in each instance the accumulation of foreign bonded debt, the causes and nature of ensuing defaults, the negotiations for a settlement, and the terms of effectiveness of debt reorganizations. Collectively, they provide illustrations of every kind of legal, diplomatic, and economic situation that has arisen out of the relations between defaulting states and their foreign creditors. No book review available William H. Wynne studied under a research associateship at the Yale School of Law from 1931 to 1935 in studies to prepare this second volume. Professor Edwin Borchard, the author of the first volume, helped to have Mr. Wynne appointed at Yale Law School. Mr. Wynne studied in London and Paris under this associateship followed by two years at New Haven. No table of contents available |
